The City of Coon Rapids is offering a relief grant program to support nonprofit impacted by COVID-19.
The City of Coon Rapids recognizes the significant impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the city’s business and nonprofit community. To help the nonprofits survive during this challenging time, the City has set aside funding from its Federal CARES Act allocation to fund relief grants for nonprofit organizations.
Funding Information
- Grants will not exceed $15,000 to cover eligible expenses incurred as a result of the COVID pandemic after March 1, 2020. The recipient must submit a list of COVID related expenditures during the application process.
- Examples of eligible usage of grant funds:
- Commercial lease or mortgage payments.
- Accounts payable (AP) if the AP is a COVID-19 related expense incurred since March 1, 2020.
- Payroll costs.
- Reopening costs or safety improvement costs expended since March 1, 2020 (i.e. outdoor seating, plexiglass, cleaning products, re-staffing costs, etc.)
- Operating utilities or fees for those facilities interrupted or forced to shut down incurred after March 1, 2020. Government utilities or fees such as city water or liquor license are ineligible use of grant funds.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be locally owned, operated and domiciled in the State of Minnesota with a physical establishment in the City of Coon Rapids. If there is a parent organization/company or a second location outside of the City of Coon Rapids, only the entity located in the City of Coon Rapids can apply to receive a grant and grant funds issued must be used for the local organization’s expenditures.
- Applicant must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization or 501(c)(9) veteran’s organization
- Applicant must be able to demonstrate financial hardship or programmatic changes as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak.
- Applicant must demonstrate good standing with the Minnesota Secretary of State and the Minnesota Department of Revenue.
- If required, the Applicant must be licensed, in good standing.
- Applicant must be current on property taxes.
- Applicant must have had sufficient operating history to demonstrate financial hardship.
- Applicant must certify in good faith that the uncertainty of current conditions makes the grant request necessary to support ongoing operations.
- Ineligible Nonprofits/ Restrictions:
- Applicants who have previously received federal, state or local grants for the same expenses or services.
- Nonprofits that primarily derive income from gambling or adult entertainment are ineligible.
- Nonprofits those are no longer in operation.
- Payments of taxes or government utilities or fees are ineligible.
- A nonprofit corporation that receives funds under the Non-profit Relief Grant Program may not use such funds to provide a loan to a related business.
