The San Benito County Arts Council is now accepting applications to two new grant programs designed to aid and support local arts organizations and cultural groups that have been negatively impacted by COVID.
The San Benito County Arts Council is an entrepreneurial, nimble, collaborative nonprofit that provides arts programming and serves as a connector, investor, advocate and leader for the arts in San Benito County. Founded in 2006, the Arts Council is anchored by a dynamic, energetic and committed staff and Board of Directors supported by a growing number of people and organizations that includes state and local government, school districts at the County Office of Education, private and public foundations, individuals and businesses.
Program Categories
- COVID Art Relief Grant Program-Communities of Color: The purpose of this program is to provide financial support to arts organizations and cultural groups based in San Benito County that serve and represent communities of colour and have been disproportionately impacted by COVID. This program is funded by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act through the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, and the California Arts Council, a state agency.
- COVID Art Relief Grant Program-San Benito County: The purpose of this program is to provide financial support to arts organizations and cultural groups based in San Benito County that have been impacted by COVID. This program is funded by a grant from the Community Foundation for San Benito County.
Funding Information
- COVID Art Relief Grant Program-Communities of Color: applicants may apply up to $4,000.
- COVID Art Relief Grant Program-San Benito County: applicants may apply up to $2,500.
Eligibility Criteria
- Arts Organizations serving Communities of Color Grants is designed to aid arts and cultural organizations that serve communities of colour disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. Supported arts and cultural organizations must comply with one or more of the following:
- The organization must include and represent the communities to be served.
- Organization mission, staff, and board (or other advisory or governing body) must be deeply rooted in and reflective of the identified community or group.
- Provided arts activities, programs and/or services must be culturally relevant and responsive to the identified community or group.
- Applicants must be based in San Benito County. Grant funds must be used for the benefit of San Benito County.
- San Benito County Arts Organizations and Cultural Groups Grant is designed to aid arts and cultural organizations that have been impacted by COVID-19. Supported arts and cultural organizations must comply with the following:
- Applicants must be based in San Benito County and grant funds must be used for the benefit of San Benito County.
- The applicant organization’s main programs and services shall reflect artistic practices and traditions in the visual and performing arts (i.e. music, dance, theatre, fine art, traditional arts, etc.), as well as demonstrate a commitment to artistic quality, cultural equity and inclusion.
- While applicants do not need to be 501©3 nonprofits to apply, applicants must demonstrate how their organization or group is formally organized and how their programs and services benefit the broader community.
- Individual artists, schools/PTOs and non-arts organizations and groups are not eligible to apply at this time.
