Argentina: Call for Applications for Hackathon “Crecer Cooperando Challenge”

Desafio Crecer Cooperando has announced a call for applications for the Hackathon Crecer Cooperando Challenge to improve the conditions of small producers and / or cooperatives through a comprehensive intervention of “Climate Smart Agriculture“, which is based on the adoption of new technologies and the development of their capacities, of San Juan and Misiones.

What is a Hackathon?

  • It is an event in which a group of people develop a project collaboratively, in the same place and in a given time. The Grow Cooperating Challenge Hackathon will be held online.

Categories

The categories are as follows:

  • Access to water: Water is a fundamental resource for the development of agriculture.
  • Informality in Financial Inclusion: Informality in small producers represents one of the most relevant barriers, especially to be able to take the necessary financing for the development of their activities.
  • Technological gap: The generational difference is one of the main causes of the technological distancing that many small producers present.
  • Gender and Youth: The participation of women in production, and the generational difference in smallholdings entails various challenges.
  • Good agricultural practices: At present, there is little planning and internal management in the activities of small producers and / or cooperatives.

How can you Participate?

  • From November 25 to 28, a Hackathon (virtual meeting) will be held with the aim of developing ideas that solve some of the problems currently facing the sector and from which up to 10 winning ideas will be selected to move on to the next phase. During these days different methodological tools will be shared to facilitate the ideation process.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The call is open to the collaboration of all entities, organizations, enterprises and people of any nationality who want to participate. This means that if you are 16 or older and live in Argentina, you can participate!

Important Dates

  • REGISTER AND CONNECT WITH YOUR TEAM
    • You have time to register until Thursday, November 19. Then between November 21 and 24 you will receive a message by whatsapp and by email to join a group with your work team.
  • GET STARTED!
    • On Wednesday November 25 at 6:00 p.m. we started the hackathon. You and your team will have until Friday to come up with and develop a solution, accompanied by a facilitator.
    • The hackathon ends on Friday , November 27 at 8:00 p.m. You have time to upload your latest deliverables on Saturday, November 28 at  8:00 p.m.
  • VOTES FROM THE PUBLIC
    • Time to publicize your work!
    • Between November 29 and 30, teams must get votes and return their projects.
