Deadline: 15-Jan-21
The Rozsa Foundation offers grants to support planning, capacity building & leadership, organizational experimentation, and implementation of bold, forward-looking approaches to addressing current & future challenges.
Through their Granting Program, the Rozsa Foundation supports Alberta-based arts charities to undertake organizational initiatives that harness the power of exploration, experimentation and innovation.
Preference may be given to proposals that are geared toward equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives, those that harness the power of art for social change (especially in partnership with other, non-arts based organizations), those that promote inter-organizational collaboration, and those that can use a Rozsa Foundation grant to leverage additional funding or other resources, as reflected in the project budget.
Funding Information
Grants are awarded through one of six streams, each of which supports different types of initiatives and levels of funding:
- Aspiration Grants: Up to $15,000.
- Experimentation Grants: Up to $5,000, although in certain cases this can be increased slightly to facilitate a more significant experiment. If you plan to request an Experimentation Grant for over $5,000, please discuss it with us first.
- Transformation Grants: Support through this grant stream can possibly exceed that available through the Rozsa Foundation’s other grant streams, as well as potentially providing multi-year support for the transformational initiative.
- IBPOC Arts Leaders Residency Grant: The IBPOC Arts Leaders Residency Grant provides $20,000 to support a part-time position for one year.
- Action Learning Plan Grants: Up to $5,000.
Types of Grants
- Aspiration Grants: Rozsa Foundation Aspiration Grants are designed to support arts organizations at key junctures as they look toward an aspirational vision for the future. These grants provide funding for a diverse range of key administrative and management processes or programming initiatives that unlock significant new capacity and potential for the organization.
- Experimentation Grants: Many arts organizations are attempting to realize their goals by experimenting with new approaches to how they produce and resource work, and how they share it with audiences. To nurture a culture of research and development in the not-for-profit arts community in Alberta, the Rozsa Foundation is proud to offer Experimentation Grants that support organizations as they begin to explore new business strategies and test hypotheses that carry the potential for transformational impact.
- Transformation Grants: Building off successful experimentation, Rozsa Foundation Transformation Grants are designed to support an organization through the expansion of an idea, including further prototyping and scaling up of the work accomplished in the experimentation phase.
- IBPOC Arts Leaders Residency Grant: Within the arts in Calgary, there is a sector-wide need to create pathways for Indigenous, Black, and People of Color (IBPOC) leaders in all disciplines to advance their networks, experience, skills, and knowledge.
- Action Learning Plan Grants: This grant stream is exclusively for participants of the Rozsa Arts Management Program (RAMP). The Rozsa Foundation provides Action Learning Plan Grants to organizations to support bringing the participant’s ALP to fruition.
