The Mornington Peninsula Shire is seeking applications for its Youth Encouragement Grants.
Youth Encouragement Grants provide support for individuals competing at elite levels, as part of an affiliated state or national event or international activity/event in any of the following fields:
- Sporting events;
- Performing arts;
- Visual arts;
- Music;
- Science and technology; and
- Other competitive events or activities.
Funding Information
There is $7,000 available annually and once the funding pool has been expended, no additional funding will be available within the financial year.
Funding will be considered to the following levels:
- Individual applications can be made for up to $150 towards the costs of representing at a State or National level or $300 towards the costs of representing internationally.
- Team applications can be made for up to $250 towards the costs of representing at a State or National level or $500 towards the costs of representing internationally.
- A further 20% funding consideration may be made for applicants who demonstrate financial hardship through a Centre link issued Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card.
What you can apply for?
Applications can seek funding assistance to help cover costs associated with the activity that are not covered by any other means, including:
- Travel requirements;
- Accommodation
- Activity registration or entry fees;
- Uniforms or purchase/hire of equipment or materials required to compete or participate in the activity; and
- Transportation of equipment or materials.
Eligibility Criteria
Applications will be assessed based on:
- The applicant has limited capacity to self-fund the total cost;
- The grant is a contribution to the overall, not entire, costs;
- Must be a permanent Morning ton Peninsula Shire resident of school age up to 18 years;
- Applicants will only be eligible for one grant per year and can only apply every three years;
- Gained a place in the competition through winning events (rather than simply entering), or by being invited or selected to be involved in a state, national or international activity by the relevant governing or organizing body;
- Where more than one application is received from a team member for the same event, the application will be considered as a team and capped at the nominated amount above;
- Applications must be received at least six weeks before the start of the competition;
- Member of an eligible club or organization, with proof of membership provided;
- Activities must take place within 6 months of receiving the grant;
- Participating in an event or activity that is conducted or coordinated by a recognized peak body;
- Applicants must have fully acquitted previous completed grants and have no outstanding debts to Mornington Peninsula Shire Council;
