The Gilroy Foundation is currently inviting applications for the 2021 Richard Hayes Grant Program.
Since 1980, Gilroy Foundation has awarded over $14.8 million in grants and scholarships. Foundation grants have made a positive and powerful difference in every sphere of life in the community, including:
- Increasing the self-sufficiency of children and families
- Building the capacity of students to excel in school
- Promoting the physical, mental, and social health of all individuals
- Enriching the cultural life of the community
- Improving the environment
- Helping to bridge gaps in neighborhoods
- Encouraging career opportunities in all trades and professions
Areas of funding
Industrial Arts — design, technical drawing, eraphic technology, engineering studies, vocational programs, film/movies.

Grant range: $10,000
Eligibility Criteria
- In reviewing grant applications, in addition to evaluating the potential impact of the requests, the Foundation gives careful consideration to:
- Programs that would contribute to industrial arts.
- The ability of the organization or program to become self-supporting after initial seed money or interim funding.
- The extent of local volunteer involvement and support for the organization’s board.
- The organization’s fiscal responsibility and management qualifications.
- Organizations must be properly constituted and organized with a board of directors, by-laws, Financial records, and controls. Grant consideration cannot be given either to individuals or to organizations that do not have their nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) status from the Internal Revenue Service. Grant applications will also be accepted from all Gilroy public and private schools and the City of Gilroy.
