The King’s Daughters Organization (KDO) has announced a grant whose mission is to support the well-being of and to charitably aid the elderly in Sangamon County.
In 2007, the KDO established a donor-advised fund through the Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln with assets from the closure of the King’s Daughters Home in Springfield, Illinois.
Goals & Purpose
The purpose and goals of the KDO Fund are to provide financial support to programs and services of charitable organizations that:
- Enhance the quality of life for older residents of Sangamon County.
- Address the unmet needs of older residents of Sangamon County.
Funding Information
- Awards made in 2021 will range from $2,500 to $25,000, depending on the availability of funds. Organizations may submit multiple applications; however, each application must have only one focus area.
Geographic limitations
- Funds must be used for programs and services primarily assisting older residents (55 years of age and older) of Sangamon County, Illinois.
Who can apply?
Each grant program at the Foundation is unique in what it funds and who is eligible to apply. Please review the grant information for each program carefully to make sure your organization meets the specific criteria. Applications are generally accepted from:
- Registered 501(c)(3) charitable organizations.
- Faith-based organizations (proposals must benefit all, regardless of religion, and be for service provided which is not religious in nature).
- Public or private schools (proposals must be for projects that exceed the school’s budget funding).
- Units of government or municipalities.
Timeline
- The deadline for the applications is February 5, 2021.
- Selected charities will be interviewed on March 29, 2021.
- Final grant awards will be made at the KDO Annual Awards Luncheon on May 10, 2021.
