The British Council, as part of the Active Citizens Program, plans to support climate action projects (CAPs) to join the 26th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Climate Change (COP26), to be held in Glasgow, UK. 1 to 12 November 2021.
Priority Areas
Through the Youth Engagement COP26: Challenge Funds for Young People, the Active Citizens Programme will support environmental/climate change Social Action Projects which focus on the COP26 priority areas:
- Adaptation and resilience. ‘Helping people, economies and the environment adapt and prepare for the impacts of climate change.’
- Nature. ‘Safeguarding ecosystems, protecting natural habitats and keeping carbon out of the atmosphere.’
Funding Information
- The maximum funding for a social action project from the British Council is UAH 30,000.
- In addition to this amount, the partner organization may include in the budget up to UAH 3,000 for the administration costs of each of the submitted PSDs (accounting services, postal items, etc.).
- If the implementation of the social action project requires the consent of the local government/institution/residents of the house, etc., applicants must provide a letter of support together with the completed application form.
- A grant for the implementation of a social action project may cover the costs of:
- professional services (at market prices);
- Software for online events;
- materials,
- reasonable administrative costs,
- local trips,
- equipment required for project implementation,
- dissemination of information (except for payment for publications in the media),
- other costs directly related to the project implementation.
- The following are not financed under the grant for the implementation of the social action project:
- salary of the project manager,
- purchase of office equipment (eg laptop, projector, printer, etc.),
- Certain types of software that have low security standards for users (ZOOM, Tilda);
- office rental costs, current organizational costs (for example, replenishment of mobile
- bills, payment for Internet service providers, etc.),
- language learning
- salaries of civil servants
- projects that have a commercial purpose.
- The social action project manager must be 18 years of age or older.
Eligibility Criteria
- The British Council will support the PSD with a focus on climate change. Graduates of local trainings “Active Citizens” can take part in the competition by submitting an application through the partner organization of the program.
- Please note that the program only accept applications from partner organizations in the Active Citizens program.
Grant Procedure
- The application form must be submitted to the British Council by 23:59, 8 February 2021.
- All applications will be evaluated by the British Council.
- The results will be announced by February 22 inclusive.
- The funds will be paid to the account of the partner organization of the Active Citizens program, from which the project is submitted.
- 90% of the grant amount will be paid in the form of a charitable contribution in February 2021.
- The financial and descriptive report must be submitted to the British Council no later than 30 June 2021.
- 10% of the grant amount will be paid after approval of the reports.
