The United States Agency for International Development in Bangladesh (USAID/Bangladesh) is seeking applications from qualified US and non-US organizations to implement an activity titled Shobai Miley Shikhi (Everyone Learns Together).
The Shobai Miley Shikhi (“Everyone Learns Together”) Activity aims to improve learning outcomes for children with disabilities (CWD) in Government Primary Schools in Bangladesh. To achieve this objective, the activity will primarily strengthen government service delivery of disability-inclusive education and create inclusive school environments and instruction for children with disabilities to improve learning outcomes.
The Activity will support a small number of private schools, and models will also be tested to identify approaches through the non-formal system (non-formal education centers, community groups, etc.) to improve learning outcomes for CWDs. Through this activity, children with disabilities will gain life skills, and the foundational literacy and numeracy skills necessary to advance through the school system and be better equipped to obtain better economic opportunities upon completing their education. It is expected that the Recipient will work closely with the Government of Bangladesh and work under the SEND framework for Inclusive Education of PEDP4.
The Shobai Miley Shikhi Activity addresses the following USAID Education Policy priorities: “children and youth, particularly the most marginalized and vulnerable, have increased access to quality education that is safe, relevant, and promotes social well-being,” and “children and youth gain the literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional skills that are foundational to future learning and success.”
Funding Information
USAID intends to provide Eighteen million dollars ($18 million) in total USAID funding over a Five (5) year period.
Eligibility Criteria
- This funding opportunity is open to all eligible U.S. and non-U.S. nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) entities (other than those from foreign policy restricted countries), including educational organizations and universities, and public international organizations, etc.
- Pursuant to Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 2 CFR 200.400(g), it is USAID policy not to award profit under assistance instruments such as Cooperative Agreements. While for-profit firms may participate, pursuant to 2 CFR 700.13(A)(1) Prohibition against profit, no funds will be paid as profit to any for-profit entity receiving or administering Federal financial assistance as a recipient or subrecipient, and as such, for-profit organizations must waive profits and/or fees to be eligible to apply.
- USAID welcomes applications from organizations that have not previously received financial assistance from USAID.
