The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is seeking applications for a Cooperative Agreement from qualified entities to implement the Citizen Engagement for Accountability program.
The activity aims to strengthen a culture of political and civic engagement in Zimbabwe by promoting greater and more effective citizen participation in governance processes at multiple levels with an eye to improved, citizen-driven development. This envisioned activity will work with and through local organizations’ initiatives and seek unique methods and innovative pathways and partnerships to achieve this purpose.
The activity will promote and support holistic ways to increase citizens’ ability to influence policy and political preferences and build stronger networks for collaboration and solidarity on issues that affect them. Activity implementation strategies and approaches are expected to be flexible and innovative to respond to challenges and dynamics in Zimbabwe as they evolve.
Objectives
The objectives of this activity are to:
- Activate citizen agency for accountability;
- Strengthen women’s leadership and inclusion; and
- Increase youth empowerment and positive engagement.
- USAID intends to provide $19,000,000.00 in total USAID funding over a five (5) year period.
- The anticipated period of performance is five years. The estimated start date will be July 1, 2021.
