The City of Calgary is accepting applications for Community Safety Investment Framework Fund Program to strengthen existing community crisis response programs and services.
Objectives
- Strengthening Existing Crisis Supports: Funds are available to support existing programs to improve service in crisis response for Calgarians experiencing crisis.
- Transforming Calgary’s Crisis Response System: Funds are available to conduct an environmental scan of the current state of crisis response in Calgary and identify gaps through system analysis and community engagement to inform future investments in crisis response, which may include new programs and services.
Funding Information
- Amount: Up to $5.5 million is available.
Expected Deliverables
- Environmental Scan Report on best or promising practices on crisis response.
- System Analysis Report to assess the current state of crisis response system including case flow.
- Stakeholder Engagement Report to identify gaps in crisis response.
- Recommendations to inform future investments in crisis response to transforming crisis prevention and response.
Expected Outcomes
- Improved crisis triage.
- Integrated case management.
- Increased availability of 24/7 non-emergency support and outreach services.
- Examples of indicators (Please note that these are provided as sample indicators. Organizations can develop their own indicators to measure the above-expected outcomes.)
- Improved access for Calgarians to services through coordinated points of access.
- Total time spent (hours) by client waiting for initial services.
- Improved access to shared data between organizations that facilitate client care.
- Improved ability to provide uninterrupted, coordinated care/service across programs, practitioners, organizations, and levels of care/service, over time.
- Response wait time (minutes) for clients in crises to receive services.
Eligibility Criteria
Strengthening Existing Crisis Supports
- Organizational eligibility
- Non-profit organizations registered under the Societies Act or the Companies Act in Alberta, or the Federal Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, and operating within Calgary’s city limits are eligible to apply.
- Program eligibility
- The one-time funding is intended for existing programs or collaboration efforts that support Calgarians experiencing a crisis.
- Program enhancement activities can be launched as soon as the funding agreement is signed.
Transforming Calgary’s Crisis Response System
- Organizational eligibility
- Organizations registered to legally operate in Alberta.
- Project eligibility
- Funds are available to conduct an environmental scan of the current state of crisis response in Calgary and identify gaps through system analysis and community engagement to inform future investments in crisis response, which could include new programs and services.
Ineligible Applications
- Operational and administrative costs beyond those directly related to the program will not be considered for funding.
