The CFLI is inviting proposals to support small projects proposed and implemented by local NGOs and other community-based organizations that address identified needs of local communities in Republic of Moldova.
To be considered, projects must be strongly aligned with the funds’ strategic priorities for the Republic of Moldova, focusing on:
- Media freedom and an improved media environment for journalists, or
- Inclusive governance, democracy and rule of law.
Gender equality is an additional objective of the CFLI program. Preference will be given to projects which promote the equal participation of women and/or girls at all stages of the project, from design through execution.
Funding Information
- Proposed projects should have a budget within the range of CAD $15,000 to CAD $45,000
Eligibility Criteria
- Organizations eligible to apply for CFLI funding
- The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives is intended to strengthen and fund the development activities of non-governmental organizations or other types of community groups based in the Republic of Moldova only. Assistance to individuals and private businesses is not provided.
- Eligible recipients include
- Local non-governmental, community and not-for-profit organizations;
- Local academic institutions working on local projects;
- International, intergovernmental, multilateral and regional institutions, organizations and agencies working on local development activities;
- Canadian non-governmental and not-for-profit organizations that are working on local development activities.
- The majority of CFLI funding is to be directed toward local civil society organizations (including non-governmental organizations) and other institutions working at the local level. Other entities, such as international, intergovernmental, multilateral and regional organizations can be eligible for a contribution, provided that they are working with local partners and on local projects that are consistent with the objectives of the CFLI.
