The U.S. Embassy in N’Djamena has launched a call for proposals for funding of program to address health and development challenges in Africa and promote increased economic opportunities with the United States, to be supported by the Africa Regional Economic Fund (ESF).
Concern for the health of the poor is an essential part of the problem of economic development, and the improvement of the health situation has become a prerequisite to allow developing countries to break the cycle of poverty.
Objectives
- To address health and development challenges in Africa and promote increased economic opportunities with the United States,
- Highlight the impact of health on the economic development of the country or sub-region,
- Propose measures to invest in health that can help reduce poverty.
Activities
- Provide activities that incorporate the dimension of health and development,
- Focus on drinking water supply, sanitation and combating malnutrition, contributing, health, actions of prevention and treatment,
- Support income-generating activities.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible applicants are non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and non-profit organizations (NPOs).
- Grants will be awarded directly to the organization.
- NGOs and NPOs must provide documentation of legal status with the grant proposal.
- Selected organizations may be subject to an audit of financial accounting systems and procedures before receiving U.S. government funds.
