The grant competition is organized by the UN Peacebuilding and Peacebuilding Program with the technical support of the NGO Interaction-Plus with funding from the European Union and the governments of Denmark, Switzerland, and Sweden.
The Small Grants Program (SMG) competition aims to restore effective governance and promote reconciliation in the conflict-affected communities of Donetsk and Luhansk (in government-controlled areas), in line with Sustainable Development Goals 16 “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions”.
The program is supported by twelve international partners: the European Union (EU), the European Investment Bank (EIB), the US Embassy in Ukraine, as well as the governments of Denmark, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Poland, Switzerland, Sweden and Japan.
Competition Directions
Applications matiching the following directions are accepted to participate in the competition of the small grant program:
- Direction 1: Development of cooperation between territorial communities on the basis of common interests and goals
- Direction 2: Good governance encouraging the participation of community residents and promoting the openness and accountability of local authorities
- Direction 3: Provision of consulting services to community residents and internally displaced persons
- Direction 4: Implementation of Environment Initiatives
Territories Implementation of the Competition
Civil society organizations that receive funds for the implementation of their own projects should choose the territory of their implementation from the target communities of Donetsk and Luhansk regions:
- Donetsk region: Bakhmut, Vugledarska, Verkhnotoretska, Volnovakha, Dobropilska, Druzhkivska, Zvanivska, Kurakhivska, Lymanska, Maryinska, Myrnogradska, Olhynska, Ocheretinska, Pokrovska, Sviatohirska, Siverska, Slovyarska, Soledariv;
- Luhansk region: Belovodsk, Belolutsk, Belokurakin, Mountain, Krasnorichensk, Kreminsk, Lozno-Alexandrovsk, Markivsk, Milovsk, Nizhneduvansk, Nizhny Teplevsk, Novoaydar, Novopskovsk, Popasnyansk, Rubizhne, Stavierochka, Svativka-Svaetska , Shirokivska, Shchastynska.
Requirements
Non-governmental public organizations (NGOs) that meet the following requirements are invited to participate in the SGP competition:
- are civil society organizations, namely: public organization, public association, charitable organization (charitable society, charitable institution, charitable foundation), organization of employers (or their association), union (association) of legal entities serving agricultural cooperative (cooperative association of agricultural service cooperatives), creative union, body of self-organization of the population;
- officially registered in the Donetsk or Luhansk region (in the territory controlled by the Government of Ukraine);
- implement their current activities in the target areas;
- have the status of a non-profit or charitable organization (have non-profit codes 0032, 0034, 0036, 0038, 0039, 0048);
- do not have open court cases, as defendants, as well as heads of organizations;
- have a valid current account with a bank of Ukraine.
