RICS invites individuals, teams and organisations to nominate their achievements, professionalism and ethics to the world stage and showcase the best of the built environment from Australia. The 2021 RICS Awards Australia, powered by AI Assets, bestow both local and global recognition.
All shortlisted nominations will be promoted across the APAC region and winners will be showcased as the top performers in Australia via the extensive RICS network and wider platforms.
Award Categories
- Team Awards

- Building Certification Team of the Year: Recognising companies, teams or consortia responsible for consultancy advice or assessment in certification of building projects in Australia. This award highlights the crucial role of building certification to ensure the health and wellbeing of building occupants post-construction.
- Building Consultancy Team of the Year: Focusing on excellence in the building surveying sector. This award recognises companies, teams or consortia who have demonstrated excellence in the provision of advice or services related to any aspects of the building surveying sector.
- Dispute Resolution Team of the Year: Awarded to a company, team or consortia responsible for outstanding dispute resolution in land, property or construction. The award recognises the provision of services in any of the following; expert determination or expert witness, adjudication, arbitration, mediation, claims advice or conflict avoidance.
- Facilities Management Team of the Year: Awarded to a company, team or consortia responsible for the delivery of outstanding facilities management services. These services might ensure functionality, comfort, safety and/or efficiency of the built environment by integrating people, place, process and/or technology. The award is open to facilities management service providers or teams within property owner organisations who are delivering services in-house.
- Project Management Team of the Year: Acknowledging companies, teams, in-house teams, the service provider or contractors who were engaged in project management of a construction project during 2020. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellence in such areas as quality control, time management, budget control, procurement and commercial management to deliver the outcome sought by the client.
- Property Fund Management Team of the Year: The Property Fund Management Team of the Year Award recognises a property trust or property syndicate who can illustrate their outstanding industry performance for a specific project through attributes such as innovation, financial performance property finance and public accountability.
- Property Management Team of the Year: Awarded to a company, team or consortia responsible for outstanding tenant relationship management, financial management and asset management throughout 2020.
- Quantity Surveying Team of the Year: Celebrating excellence in quantity surveying, this award recognises companies, teams or consortia engaged in outstanding quantity surveying work in 2020. This includes but is not limited to cost planning and control and commercial management.
- Real Estate Advisory Team of the Year: This award recognises excellence in the provision of real estate consultancy advice (not covered in other categories). It includes tenant advisory services, strategic portfolio advice, land and property development advice and related feasibility and business case work.
- Real Estate Agency Team of the Year: This award acknowledges companies, teams and/or consortia demonstrating excellence in providing agency services related to the acquisition, sale, or leasing of properties in the office, retail, industrial or residential sectors.
- Valuation Team of the Year: The Valuation Team of the Year recognises a company, team or consortia involved providing excellence in valuation services which uphold international standards and give confidence to end-users for their objectivity, independence and reliability on both commercial and/or residential projects.
- Special Category Team Awards
- Innovation Award: Future proofing the profession is a key challenge in a time of rapid changes. The Innovation Award recognises teams, companies and consortia engaged in developing innovative solutions, to sustain the profession for the future.
- Sustainability Award: This award demonstrates how innovation, design or construction techniques have been utilised by a team or client to address environmental challenges and improve the sustainability of the project outcome.
- Individual Awards
- Young Achiever of the Year: The future of profession rests on the shoulder s of emerging professionals. The Young Achiever of the Year Award acknowledges one outstanding individual who has achieved excellence in their field. The individual selected will embody the highest standards of professionalism, be a role-model for their peers and be capable of making an outstanding contribution to the profession in the course of their future career.
- Woman of the Built Environment Award: The woman of the built environment award recognises the outstanding contributions and achievements of senior women to industry. The award celebrates inspirational role models to inspire the next generation of diverse professionals. Women from all disciplines of the industry are encouraged to enter.
- Property Professional of the Year: The Property Professional of the Year award is presented to an outstanding individual involved in valuation, property management, facilities management, valuation or acquiring/selling or leasing a commercial, industrial or retail property. The selected professional will represent the highest professional ethics, demonstrate their use of standards in their day to day activities and embody the excellence expected of the recipient of such a prestigious award.
- Construction Professional of the Year: Presented to an outstanding individual for excellence in quantity surveying, project management, land surveying, building surveying or building control. The Construction Professional of the Year award recognises achievement in construction projects during 2020. The successful candidate will demonstrate how their work has combined the highest professional, ethical and industry standards to deliver superior results and outcomes for clients and stakeholders.
- Lifetime Achievement Award: Recognising commitment to RICS and the wider profession, the Lifetime Achievement Award is the most prestigious award for built environment professionals.
