Deadline: 23-Jul-21
The NSW Government is seeking applications for its Community Engagement Grants Program to support community engagement activities with culturally and linguistically diverse communities, focusing on increasing knowledge of and confidence in participating in cancer screening.
Successful grant recipients will conduct community engagement activities with the support of bilingual health professionals and/or trained bilingual community educators (BCE) that focus on the three national screening programs: National Bowel Cancer Screening Program; BreastScreen Australia Program; and National Cervical Screening program.
Funding Information
Small grants of up to $1,000 are being offered to local health districts and non-government/community organisations.
Activities
Translated educational resources produced by CINSW are also available to support these activities:
- Bowel screening resources: Bowel cancer is a malignant growth occurring generally in the lining of the large bowel—it is the second biggest cancer killer in both Australia and NSW.
- Breast screening resources: Breast cancer is a collection of cells in the breast tissue that grow in an uncontrolled way. It is the most common cancer affecting women in NSW, with 1 in 7 women developing breast cancer in their lifetime.
- Cervical screening resources: Cervical screening prevents cervical cancer by finding the infection that causes it. The Cervical Screening Test (the Pap test replacement) is a quick and simple procedure that looks for an infection called human papillomavirus (HPV).
