Volunteer Toronto’s 2021 Legacy Awards celebrate the passion, commitment, and creativity of their city’s most exceptional volunteers.
Their judging committee will be looking for nominees whose volunteer work falls into one or more of the following categories:
- Being What’s Needed: Demonstrated commitment to filling a critical need or important gap in service.
- Inclusivity: Contributions that benefit members of the community facing barriers.
- Positive Change: Evidence of challenging stigmas and advocating for positive change.
- Growth and Learning: Proof of exceptional personal or professional growth through volunteering.
- Connection: Development of meaningful relationships with service-users, clients, and other volunteers.
- Lifetime Achievement: A lifetime commitment to volunteering.
Eligibility Criteria
- Nominees must have volunteered for or started a non-profit organization or grassroots project.
- Your nominee must currently be volunteering or have volunteered sometime between February 2020 and June 2021.
- Your nominee’s volunteer work must have taken place within the City of Toronto. However, you’re free to nominate individuals who live outside the city (i.e. in the GTA) but commute to volunteer or volunteer virtually for an organization based in Toronto.
- Each non-profit can nominate up to two individuals. You can nominate more than two people if they volunteer for different organizations.
Ineligibility
- You can’t nominate yourself, someone you’re related to, or someone you’re living with.
- They don’t accept posthumous nominations
- They cannot accept nominations of groups, couples, or siblings. Please submit a separate nomination form for each individual, outlining their unique contributions.
- No payment can have been made for the nominee’s volunteer contribution.
- The nominee’s volunteering activities may include lobbying or advocacy work, but cannot have been partisan in nature, such as volunteering for a mayoral candidate.
