The Northern Territory Government has announced the applications for the Quick Response Program 2021-2022 to enable communities to shape the future of the sport and active recreation through local decision-making through one-off projects that benefit and engage the Territory sporting community through community-led initiatives.
The Sport and Active Recreation Quick Response Grant Program is focused on providing assistance to:
- organisations to meet unforeseeable equipment expenses and structural repairs; and
- Territorians selected to represent Australia at recognised international events.
What can be funded?
- Funding is provided across the categories outlined in these guidelines. It is important that your application directly aligns with the relevant category and criteria, clearly detailing the objectives and outcomes of the project being requested. You must ensure there is a description of how your project meets the category and criteria as well as clearly state the benefits the project is expected to achieve.
- Official service provider project quotes must be provided supporting the application budget.
- Replacement of stolen sport and active recreation equipment, or repair or replacement of damaged equipment and/or facility due to fire, flood, storm, or criminal activity (eligible organisations only)
- The repair or replacement was unforeseeable and meets the category explanation.
- Failure to repair or replace eligible items will have occupational health and safety implications (e.g. structural damage caused by severe storm).
- Failure to repair or replace eligible items will cause financial hardship to the organisation (e.g. lost revenue due to inability to access/maintain facility).
- For structural repairs, the applicant is the owner or holds long-term tenure (minimum 3 year lease) and has the owner’s approval for the project.
- A “PROMIS number” from the NT Police will be required for applications relating to theft and/or criminal activity.
- Evidence that insurance held by the organisation or landowner will not cover the stolen or damaged sport and active recreation equipment and/or facility.
- Australian representation – Elite (eligible individual applicants only)
- Must be the official Australian team for that sport as designated by the National Sporting Organisation.
- Must be the pinnacle international event for that sport (e.g. Olympics, World Cup, Commonwealth Games).
- Must meet the requirements of the recognised selection process for the sport, with evidence to support this.
- Must be an open age event.
- Must be recognised as an official member of the team as an athlete, coach, official or support staff.
- Additional funding, up to a maximum of $5 000, can be requested for a primary carer or support person assisting an eligible athlete with a disability or special needs
- Australian representation – Non-elite (eligible individual applicants only)
- Must be an official Australian team for that sport as designated by the National Sporting Organisation
- Must meet the requirements of the recognised selection process for the sport with evidence to support this.
- Must be a minimum of 12 years of age at the time of the nominated competition/event.
- If there is no official selection process, evidence of the legitimacy of the competition, qualifying results and national ranking details, as well as formal endorsement from the NT Peak Sporting Body and/or National Sporting Organisation, is required (no self-nominated representation is eligible).
- Additional funding, up to a maximum of $1,000, can be requested for a primary carer or support person assisting an eligible athlete with a disability or special needs.
Eligibility Criteria
- Funding is available to individuals and not for profit organisations.
- Types of individiuals that are eligible to apply for funding include
- a member of an official Australian team for your sport as designated by the National Sporting Organisation
- a recognised official member of the team as an athlete, coach, official or support staff
- an individual having met the requirements of the recognised selection process for the sport, with evidence to support this
- a primary carer or support person assisting an eligible athlete with a disability or special needs
Ineligible
Types of individuals that are not eligible to apply for funding include
- Applicants under the age of 12 years at the time of the nominated competition /event
