Giant is seeking applications for its Ward 8 Healthy Living Micro-Grant.
Funding Pillars
The Ward 8 Healthy Living Micro grant Program seeks to support a wide variety of programs, reflecting the diverse passions and needs of the Ward 8 community. The micro grants, ranging in support level, will fund projects through which the following outcomes will be achieved:
- Nutrition Knowledge: Improving knowledge of food and its benefits to health.
- Healthy Food Access: Improving access to healthy food (physically, logistically, transport, etc.)
- Financial Literacy: Improving financial education and management.
- Healthy Living: Improving access to movement and other stress-reducing, mindful living activities that promote physical and emotional health.
Funding Information
- Applicants may request up to $2,500.
- Programs funded by the micro-grant should take place within 6-months of fund distribution.
Example
Example projects include but are not limited to:
- Community Events (grocery support, in-kind donations)
- Cooking classes
- Physical activity/ movement programs
- After-school wellness programs
- Financial education programming
- Subsidizing the donation and sale of healthy food items in non-grocery retail locations
Eligibility Criteria
- Giant Food is seeking qualified community partners who want to address health disparities in their community, understand the needs of the Ward 8 community and have expertise or experience within a specific Funding Pillar.
