The Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy in Moscow is pleased to announce an open call for UK and Russian cultural organisations to fund projects which aim to showcase contemporary UK arts to Russian audiences offline or online during the period of October 2021 – February 2022.
This grant scheme is part of the 2nd year of UK-Russia Creative Bridge which is a professional development programme that aims to connect cultural professionals and artists in Russia and the UK and create new opportunities for both individuals and cultural institutions that desire to work with the UK arts sector.
UK – Russia Creative Bridge is delivered by the British Council, operating in Russia as the Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy in Moscow, in partnership with a number of Russian cultural institutions, with funding from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
Funding Information
- The value of each grant is minimum £7,000 – maximum £50,000.
Types of Projects
- Showcases of contemporary UK arts across different art forms: visual art, design and architecture exhibitions, classical or contemporary music performances, film festivals, fashion shows and catwalks, theatre performances, festivals and art fairs
- Educational events of all kinds involving UK cultural professionals and artists: professional development workshops, forums, conferences, short-term courses, series of public talks and lectures, creative residencies
- Development of new or adaptation of existing pieces of collaborative art with the UK, e.g. film and music album releases, book publications (rights will remain with the applicant and won’t be passed to the Cultural and Education Section of the British Embassy in Moscow)
- Media projects, websites and other digital platforms promoting contemporary UK arts
Criteria
- Applicants should represent cultural organisations from any UK or Russian city (museums, galleries, art spaces / centres, libraries, theatres, concert halls, cinemas and other venues etc.)
- The event/project should take place in Russia and target Russian audiences
- The organisation must have existed for at least 3 years; be able to demonstrate a proven track record for delivering work; be a key player in the local cultural sector; be able to demonstrate a developed audience, a have recognisable brand
- It is desirable that applying organisation have experience of international cultural collaboration (including contracting foreign organisations and issuing foreign currency payments)
- They are seeking a diverse range of proposals and therefore particularly welcome applications from organisations whose work is focused on or engages with artists and audiences who identity as women or gender minority, or disabled; are from underrepresented groups, or are next generation practitioners.
