The Moonee Valley City Council is currently accepting applications for the Community Grants to support local community groups, businesses and individuals to deliver projects and activities that help make Moonee Valley an inclusive, vibrant and connected community.
- Improve the quality of life and liveability of neighbourhoods
- Help the community to achieve the goals outlined in the long-term plans and strategies
- Address community need and make the most of unique local opportunities and strengths
- Foster and strengthen community involvement, participation and community-led initiatives
- Contribute to the social, cultural, economic, and environmental wellbeing of the local community
- Grants for Community groups and not-for-profit organisations: The community groups and local community service organisations support the most vulnerable and deliver vital services throughout Moonee Valley.
- Responsive Grant: Community Support (up to $1,000) – to support community groups to deliver small projects across the neighbourhoods, responding to the community vision, and encourage the establishment of emerging groups.
- Biannual Grant: Social Support (up to $1,500) – to provide operational support for small volunteer-run community groups that have limited ability to raise funds, and provide opportunities for social connections and to share information.
- Biannual Grant: Community Projects (up to $10,000) – to support community groups and organisations to deliver projects aligned that respond to:
- the impacts of the pandemic
- increasing community participation and access to information and services
- strengthening wellbeing across the city
- Biannual Grant: Climate Action (up to $10,000) – to support community groups to help reach the target of zero net emissions for the community by 2040 through grants for community groups to:

- reduce their emissions and energy costs through energy efficient transitions
- recognise and respond to the climate emergency support community climate advocacy
- Grants for arts and events, & individuals: They acknowledge the vast contribution the local residents make with their pursuits in the arts, sports and academics. Through these programs they want to foster local creativity, talent and participation.
- Responsive Grant: Individual Participation (up to $500) to support Moonee Valley residents who are experiencing financial hardship to participate in recreational, cultural, artistic and learning pursuits either because they:
- have been selected to participate at an elite level, or
- wish to participate within Moonee Valley but are struggling to do so due to financial constraints.
- Biannual Grant: Arts & Events (up to $5,000 / $10,000) – to support and build capacity for Moonee Valley’s local creative sector to thrive, through the delivery of community-focused arts projects and events.
- Responsive Grant: Individual Participation (up to $500) to support Moonee Valley residents who are experiencing financial hardship to participate in recreational, cultural, artistic and learning pursuits either because they:
- Grants for local businesses, social enterprises, sole traders and trader associations: They want to provide a leg-up to help businesses with projects that contribute to the vibrancy of the public precincts, encourage local patronage and support the innovation of the local businesses through project grants.
- Responsive Grant: Business Support (up to $500) – to contribute to businesses improving the outward facing aspects of the business and encourage outdoor and evening patronage.
- Biannual Grant: Business Projects (up to $5,000) – to support businesses to deliver larger projects that benefit the wider community or multiple businesses through storefront beatification, refreshing vacant shops, energy efficiency transitions and collaborative projects.
- Grants for Community groups and not-for-profit organisations: Not-for-profit community groups and organisations that are:
- Incorporated or supported by an auspice (unless establishing a new community group); and
- Based and/or delivering services in Moonee Valley — applicants that are not based in Moonee Valley must demonstrate strong connections with local partners.
- Grants for arts and events, & individuals
- Responsive Grant
- Individuals who are residents of Moonee Valley (provide proof via licence, rates notice, utility bill, etc);
- Can demonstrate financial hardship (i.e. healthcare card, document acknowledging financial hardship/job loss); and
- Can provide proof of participation in activity, either:
- selection in a high-level activity (i.e. letter confirming competitive selection in an elite activity), or
- proof of participation in a local activity (i.e. letter confirming participation in a local activity).

- Grants for local businesses, social enterprises, sole traders and trader associations: The following entities with an Australian Business Number (ABN), located and operating in the Moonee Valley municipality:
- Business and Sole Traders (less than 50 equivalent full-time staff)
- Trader Associations
- Social Enterprises
- Responsive Grants: 1 September 2021
- Biannual Grants: 14 September 2021
