The Australian Embassy in Pohnpei is seeking applications for its Direct Aid Program, a flexible small grants program funded by the Australian Government and managed through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
The Australian Embassy manages the DAP grant for the Federated States of Micronesia. It supports projects that have a strong development focus on sustainable community project, improving living conditions and generates economic activities for communities.
Funding Information
DAP does not have closing dates hence it is open all year around. The maximum funding limit of up to USD$20,000.00 per project is available and requesting organization should be able to demonstrate clearly the scope, objectives and rationale of their project proposal to support its commitment towards the implementation of project activities. Projects must run for no longer than 12 months
What activities are eligible for DAP Support?
DAP activities should aim to achieve practical and tangible outcomes that supports development within communities. The Australian Embassy in Pohnpei will favourably consider projects:
- in the areas of education and skill development, agriculture, gender development, health and disability, youth development, disaster risk management, environmental management and rural development
- that pursue innovative approaches, projects and partners that leverage the budget to its maximum potential.
- that help to build relationships with FSM government and community leaders
- that have achievable and have sustainable outcomes
They will generally NOT fund the following:
- cash grants or micro-credit schemes or projects that involve the return of money
- commercial ventures
- purchase of major assets, e.g. vehicles
- Australian or overseas study tours
- International travel
- sponsorship of major sporting tournaments or cultural displays that do not have a clear developmental benefit
- staff salaries
- routine, recurring running costs and administrative expenses including office rental and utility costs, spare parts, routine maintenance
Eligibility Criteria
DAP funding is available to non-government organizations, community groups, religious groups and schools that are engaged in any type of development activities for their organization.
