The Auckland Foundation is seeking applications for its Grassroots Giving Programme to supports Auckland community groups and charitable organisations that prioritise whanau/families who experience multiple disadvantage across generations.
Priorities
Priority will be given to organisations/initiatives that:
- Are grassroots
- Put whanau/families at the centre
- Are collaborative
- Work holistically/provide wraparound support
- Use kaupapa Maori models of practice
- Focus on long-term solutions and are outcomes-focused
Funding Information
- Grant requests can be made from $500 up to a maximum of $15,000.
Outcomes
These positive outcomes can be delivered by:
- Supporting the wellbeing of tamariki/children through their early years by:
- Enhancing the capability of parents.
- Supporting early childhood development, including language and literacy development, and social behaviour skills.
- Supporting the wellbeing of rangatahi/young people by:
- Promoting a positive youth development sector and growing its capacity.
- Focusing on early intervention/prevention strategies for young people.
- Supporting initiatives that promote identity and participation and equality of young people, particularly youth-led initiatives.
- Working systemically to address youth employment, especially for those most distanced from the labour market.
- Supporting and advocating for children and young people, especially children in care, or the prevention of children needing to be taken into care.
- Investing in the equality of women, young women, gender-diverse and intersex people.
- Increasing the economic participation and employment of groups or families experiencing multiple disadvantage across generations.
- Supporting the wellbeing of whanau/families by:
- Providing and assisting families into stable, healthy and affordable housing — especially home ownership.
- Supporting the wellbeing of families in a holistic way, ensuring that their goals and aspirations are at the centre.
- Promoting violence-free homes.
- Strengthening the identity and culture of families.
Eligibility Criteria
The Grassroots Giving Programme awards grants to the following not-for-profit organisations where charitable purposes can be clearly demonstrated (e.g. through a deed or governing rules):
- Registered charities
- Incorporated societies
- Community groups or collaborative groups
- Social enterprises
- Schools (not for core education).
