Deadline: 12-Sep-21
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is soliciting proposals to investigate the feasibility of using power generation from micro hydropower, pumped hydro storage (PHS), solar power and wind power to generate electricity needed to operate well pumps, pumping and lift stations, water and wastewater treatment facilities at any of the facilities owned and operated by any of the water establishments Beka’a, Beirut and Mount Lebanon, North Lebanon and South Lebanon.
Such a study should come as part of policy recommendation that promotes the use of renewable energies in general, and micro hydropower in specific, in powering water and wastewater facilities on a national scale. It would support the resilience of the water sector and would also help Lebanon meet its commitments to the Paris Agreement through its updated nationally determined commitments (NDCs).
Deliverables
- A detailed report of the process and methodology followed in assessing the feasibility of utilizing any, some or all the renewable energy sources. A case study in support of the process should be included.
- Write-up a policy brief to guide the integration of renewable energy in support of water facilities;
- Produce an infographic summarizing the project findings.
Profile Required
The interested party must have:
- Demonstrable experience in the interlinkage of renewable energy and water resources management.
- Demonstrated experience in research, assessments, field studies and project management related to renewable energy and water resources management.
- A record of producing policy briefs.
