Canadian Immigrant magazine with the proud support of founding and title sponsor RBC Royal Bank is pleased to invite nominations for the ninth annual RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Awards, on a momentous occasion of Canada’s 150th anniversary.
Canada is a nation built by immigrants, many of whom have become Canadian leaders and are changing the face of this country. The ninth annual RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Awards will be given to 25 such immigrants, who have made a difference to Canada.
Award Categories
This year, on the occasion of Canada’s 150th anniversary, one winner each will be recognized for:
Youth Award
- Immigrant youth are the newest generation of Canadian immigrants, which is why, starting in 2017, the RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Awards will include a special Youth Award.
- The Youth Award will recognize the achievements of young immigrants who are making a difference in their adopted country through achievement and/or service, and show great potential as long-term nation builders.
- Similar to our RBC Entrepreneur Award, the Youth Award will be an additional honour given to one of the RBC Top 25 winners. Eligible candidates for this honour must be between the ages of 15 and 30.
- All RBC Top 25 nominees within this age range will be automatically considered for the Youth Award. No special application process required.
- The winner of the Youth Award will be chosen from the final RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Award winners. A panel of judges will choose the winner based on set criteria. As part of the selection process, candidates may be contacted by the judging panel if additional information is required to determine the winner.
- The winner will be chosen based on the following criteria:
- Adaptability – overcoming obstacles to establish themselves in Canada
- Impact – giving back to their community
- Leadership – strong leadership and innovation
RBC Entrepreneur Award
- Newcomers face multiple challenges integrating into their new lives in Canada, including language and cultural barriers. Those who choose to start a business can experience even greater challenges, breaking through roadblocks to gain credibility and to establish themselves in their industry.
- Introduced in 2015, the RBC Entrepreneur Award will recognize the positive contribution that immigrant entrepreneurs and their businesses have made to Canada.
- The winner of the RBC Entrepreneur Award will be chosen from the final RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Award winners. A panel of judges will choose the winner based on set criteria. As part of the selection process, candidates may be contacted by the judging panel if additional information is required to determine the winner.
- The winner will be chosen based on the following criteria:
- Adaptability – overcoming obstacles to establish a reputable business in Canada
- Impact – giving back by developing other individuals and mentoring to make a meaningful contribution to the cultural life in Canada
- Entrepreneurship – strong leadership which helped to build and sustain positive business growth
Eligibility Criteria
Nominees can be a community advocate, a successful entrepreneur, a cultural icon or a volunteer, who should be recognized for their contribution towards Canada.
