The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is pleased to announce the Mental Health Research Dissertation Grant to Enhance Workforce Diversity of scientist by providing funding support to complete the dissertation of their research careers, which falls at a particularly critical juncture in doctoral training, and a period during which institutional support may decline or terminate altogether.

- enhancing global competitiveness,
- contributing to robust learning environments,
- advancing the likelihood that underserved or health disparity populations participate in, and
- benefit from health research, and enhancing public trust.
- Award Budget: This FOA allows for budget requests to cover, per year, a salary consistent with the current fiscal year National Research Service Award (NRSA) predoctoral stipend level and up to $15,000 for additional expenses such as fringe benefits in accordance with institutional policies including health insurance for self and family members, travel to scientific meetings, and dissertation research costs.
- Award Project Period: The total award project period may not exceed twenty-four months but must be no less than 12 months.
