The Cumbria Community Foundation is seeking applications for its Psychological Support Fund for Bereavement Support.
The North Cumbria Health and Care System has allocated funding for those most affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. They are committed to supporting organisations and community groups who are looking after those who are isolated and vulnerable within their communities.
Priorities
This funding is not exclusive to, but will prioritise the following cohorts:
- Older adults, lacking social support
- Isolated individuals
- Female relatives
- BAME population
- People with learning disabilities and/or autism
- Children and Young People
- Harder to reach and vulnerable groups
- Carers
Funding Information
Grant awards up to £25,000 will be considered. Collaborative applications, comprised of multiple charitable organisations, will be considered for grants in excess of £25,000.
Criteria
In terms of bereavement, services should contribute to the improvement of bereavement services in North Cumbria. In addition, they should promote positive mental health in local communities, enhance wellbeing and build resilience to mental health problems in local communities and provide one or more of the following:
- Provide Level 2/3 specialist bereavement support.
- Reduce the amount of psychological distress experienced by their population, particularly in relation to loss or hardships that have been directly caused by the pandemic.
- Increase the level of community-based support for those who have experienced bereavement, including in high risk groups, as outlined.
- Increase awareness of how to recognise an individual who requires bereavement support and how to access support when required.
- Promote self-help techniques for those dealing with grief and loss, with particular emphasis on ‘train the trainer’ and peer support programmes.
- Support and develop training programmes, to enable local partners to provide Level 2/3 specialist bereavement support, using innovative and digital solutions to promote learning.
- Good safeguarding knowledge and practice is essential.
