The Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants (OVSJG) is inviting applications for funding to support reentry related services for justice system-involved District residents.
Purpose
- The District of Columbia is committed to developing safer, stronger communities and supporting community initiatives that provide a fair shot to justice-involved individuals.
- OVSJG seeks to fund programs that create community-based systems of care for incarcerated individuals and individuals returning from correctional facilities to ensure they are connected to the supports and resources needed for successful reintegration into their home communities.
Funding Information
- District local funds will support grants to provide:
- Direct reentry services for transgender returning citizens – up to $150,000, and
- Housing services and support for returning citizens – up to $1,000,000.
- American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) federal funds will support grants to provide:
- Flexible funding for returning citizens to meet individual needs, such as with housing deposits, transportation needs, connectivity, and other temporary or immediate expenses, to assist with reintegration, avoid homelessness and reduce recidivism– up to $10,000,000.00.
Eligibility Criteria
- Any public or private, community-based non-profit agency, organization or institution that has a District business license and provides services or goods within the District is eligible to apply.
- For profit organizations are eligible but may not include profit in their grant application. For profit organizations may also participate as subcontractors to eligible agencies.
- Applicants for reentry flexible funding must demonstrate prior experience with administering flexible funds.
