The Creative Victoria is inviting applications for Creative Activation Fund to support the development and delivery of creative projects that can increase visitation and have strong potential to become cultural tourist attractions.
Creative activation projects that can be supported include, but are not limited to, public art that responds to the natural landscape, creative interventions that breathe new life into buildings, creative reimagining of silos or unused sites, large-scale murals or sculptures as well as digital activation that could bring sites to life using cutting edge technology through virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR).
This program is open to local and international partnerships, led by a Victorian organisation or local government authority.
Aims
The Creative Activation Fund program aims to:
- Increase the number of creative projects across the State which draw on the uniqueness of each location and have the potential to become cultural tourist attractions
- Increase economic growth, including increasing opportunity for jobs creation in the creative industries, tourism sector and local communities
- Increase opportunities for communities, audiences, and visitors to engage with unique creative projects
- Increase community pride and cohesion through creative projects
- Increase opportunities for Victorian creative practitioners
- Increase partnerships between Local Government Authorities, creative industries, and tourism sector
- Enhancement of Victoria’s reputation as a creative state.
Priorities
The program will prioritise projects that:
- are in East Gippsland Shire, Towong Shire and Alpine Shire, as they were the communities most impacted by the 2019-2020 bushfires
- are led by Victorian based First Peoples creative practitioners or organisations
- align with local priorities of the area in which they are located
- occur in regional Victoria
- reflect the culture and diversity of Victoria
- are developed through new creative collaborations, including interstate and international collaborations
- partner with practitioners or organisations from a wide range of creative disciplines across the creative industries
Areas of Support
- Creative projects that can be supported include, but are not limited to, public art such as silo art or large-scale murals, activation of buildings/sites using projections/installations, digital activation of sites (eg. using AR/VR) and sculptures.
- To ensure long-term impact for local communities, this program will focus on projects that can promote visitation during most parts of the year and have at least a three-year lifespan.
- This program can support projects of different scale, such as:
- community-based creative projects that have local community impact
- creative activation projects that result in new cultural tourism products/experiences/attractions
- projects that bolster existing cultural tourist attractions through ‘value add’ projects to ensure continued visitation
- collaboration with international creatives where the lead creative is Victorian based.
NOTE: This program does not support the planning and delivery of events/festivals.
Funding Information
Applications will be accepted for requests between $40,000 and $300,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- This program is open to Victorian-based legally constituted organisations / institutions / creative businesses that have an Australian Business Number (including but not limited to, creative industries organisations, and local progress associations, local governments, and tourism boards). It is not open to applications from individuals / sole traders.
- Creative Victoria will only accept one application per applicant in each round.
- The program will prioritise projects that:
- are in the local government areas of East Gippsland, Towong and Alpine, as they were the communities most impacted by the 2019-2020 bushfires
- are led by Victorian First Peoples creative practitioners or organisations
- align with local priorities of the area in which they are located
- occur in regional Victoria
- reflect the culture and diversity of Victoria
- are developed through new creative collaborations, including interstate and international collaborations
- partner with practitioners or organisations from a wide range of creative disciplines across the creative industries.
