The Institute of Peace and Security Studies (IPSS) in partnership with The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) is accepting applications for migration research that features and investigates “African Voices from the Ground”.
Objectives
- Conduct research on “African Voices from the Ground” in five African countries representing five regions (North, Sahel, West, South and Horn of Africa);
- Include voices of civil society into the dialog on migration;
- A medium-term policy/governance-related action plan on migration that will achieve migration regional compliance with the AU and global frameworks according to priorities identified by multi-stakeholders including migrants;
- Discuss and develop long term approaches on migration;
- Develop policy recommendations for African decision makers;
- Develop specific recommendations for the EU-Africa partnership.
Grant Information
The selected research group will receive a total of 7500 Euros, in two or three disbursement phases.
Eligibility Criteria
- Research participants should be based in the country where the study is to be conducted, i.e. Ethiopia, South Africa, Senegal, Chad or Tunisia.
- Researchers should staff members of a university based in the country where the study will be conducted. This should be demonstrated with a letter of endorsement from the university, presented with the application.
- The university should have a proven track record of research and publications, preferably on migration issues
- Research participants must have knowledge on migration issues and strong track record of research on the topic
- Researchers should have proven knowledge on continental and regional migration frameworks

- Applicants should submit their application documents electronically at the address given on the website.
- Applications should consist of the following:
- An expression of interest, enclosing
- A document detailing the background of the university and demonstrating its capacity to undertake research on migration (not more than 500 words)
- Curriculum Vitae, enclosing a list of publications, of the Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-Investigator(s) (Co-Is),
- A research proposal that clearly shows how the research group intends to conduct the research (not more than 700 words).
Eligible Countries: Ethiopia, South Africa, Senegal, Chad and Tunisia.
