Deadline: 3-Dec-21
The Nature Sacred Call for Projects is inviting US organizations interested in designing a Sacred Place in partnership with Nature Sacred for implementation. It offers a collaborative design process and access to the Nature Sacred Firesoul Network.
How does this work?
To effectively merge the two — community input and evidence-based, intentional design — they have honed a five-stage methodology that is guided from start to finish by Nature Sacred experts. At the heart of it sits a charrette series: a sequence of collaborative meetings that works to:
- invite and encourage community input, hopes and dreams for the space; then
- garner community consensus on the vision; and
- translate that vision into a meaningful Sacred Place.
Benefits
For each project accepted, Nature Sacred will provide design services encompassing:
- community surveying and neighborhood analysis,
- community engagement and visioning processes, and
- the design of the Sacred Place by a Nature Sacred Design Advisor.
Guiding Principles
Each Sacred Place is intended to reconnect people with nature—to restore the minds. Regain perspective. Find balance. Renew the selves.
From smaller, urban pocket gardens to more expansive, institutional parks, each Sacred Place is tethered together by the following core principles. These are the underpinnings of each space—the ethos that make them impactful.
- Open. Physically open and accessible to visitors regardless of race, creed, background or beliefs—all are welcome.
- Sacred. Designed to bring respite, encourage mindful reflection, engender peace.
- Nearby. Located within the neighborhood it serves—closeby.
- Community-led. Built for and by the community it serves; reflective of place, story and culture.
Deliverables
The final deliverables from Nature Sacred will be:
- a schematic design by the Design Advisor
- a Nature Sacred bench, and
- admission into the Nature Sacred Firesoul Network, which includes leadership support and access to enrichment and enhancement grants.
