Applications are now open for the Teach For Kosovo Fellowship, a two-year program for development in teaching and leadership for outstanding young Kosovars capable of realizing their professional and leadership potential while working in the classroom.
Teach For Kosovo teachers will be placed in public schools that lack essential tools for learning development, and will be supported for two years with intensive leadership development training.
Who Can Become A Fellow?
- They recruit and select talented Kosovar graduates, young professionals and existing teachers with different backgrounds and fields of study to become their teachers. They are looking for new leaders with advanced mentality and tremendous leadership potential.
- Fellows are not required to have teaching experience while applying to the Fellowship Program. If selected for Fellowship, Fellows will be trained in their 6-week Intensive Training Program at the Summer Institute to prepare them for the classes where they will work. Fellows will have ongoing support throughout the two-year program from experienced mentors, to ensure they can lead their classes and have a positive impact on their students.
How Can They Have An Influence?
The role that Teach For Kosovo members will play is crucial, as 42% of the country’s population is under the age of 25. The impact that Fellows will have during class service will continue even when they become alumni once they complete the program.
- Classroom changers: Teaching for change: Through teaching, Fellows have the unique opportunity to change the future of Kosovo children. The role of the teacher should be to set an example for their students, to support them in their academic careers, by setting bold and measurable goals, and to work with their peers, parents, community members and leaders to ‘achieved these goals. Teach For Kosovo will support and train teachers so that they can equip their students with the academic skills and characters needed to succeed in the 21st century.
- A transformative experience: The guiding path of a teacher at Teach For Kosovo is one in which they will be exposed and face the challenges of the real world, learn from these experiences to become more agile people and discover strengths theirs – living by core values ??and taking responsibility for themselves. Fellows will develop the meaningful relationships and skills needed to be successful in whatever field they enter after completing the Scholarship.
- Long-term leadership and advocacy: Teach For Kosovo will continue to support and work with alumni for a long time after the end of the program. As an alumni, you will nurture your experience at Teach For Kosovo to become leaders in education, governance, innovation, corporations and other sectors. You will continue to lead a movement for equal education and excellence for all, helping to foster social and economic progress in Kosovo.
