The Australian Government is inviting applications via an open competitive process to apply for grant funding under the National Disability Conference Initiative (NDCI) 2022–23. The NDCI is delivered as part of the activities supporting the aims in Australia’s Disability Strategy and assists in delivering improved outcomes for people with disability and their carers.
This grant opportunity provides grants to conference organisers to assist people with disability participate in nationally focused, disability related, conferences held in Australia. Grants will support eligible conference organisers to provide accessibility measures that will maximise the inclusion and participation of people with disability at their conference. This in turn supports the vision of Australia’s Disability Strategy.
Funding Information
- The Australian Government has announced a total of $315,000 GST exclusive in 2022–23 for the NDCI.
- A maximum of $10,000 GST exclusive is available per conference for this grant opportunity.
- Organisers of small conferences are encouraged to apply
Outcomes
The outcomes of the NDCI that are expected to be achieved by this grant funding round are:
- greater awareness of Australia’s Disability Strategy 2021–31 launched on 3 December 2021
- people with disability are provided with greater opportunities to participate in all areas of Australian life by assisting them and their carers with the costs of participating in disability related conferences that might otherwise be inaccessible to them
- greater participation and inclusion of people with disability at nationally-focused, disabilityrelated conferences held in Australia
Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible you must:
- be the conference organiser
- confirm the conference will be held in Australia in the 2022–23 financial year
- hold a conference that is disability-related and nationally-focused
- not be receiving (or applying for) funding from another government source for the same activity and purpose that you are requesting NDCI funding for (that is to provide accessibility measures that will maximise the inclusion and participation of people with disability at their conference)

- Indigenous Corporation
- Company
- Cooperative
- Incorporated Association
- Statutory Entity
- Unincorporated Association.
