The Empowering You is pleased to launch the Empowering Women to Lead Cyber Security Programme to enable the transition of aspirational and early-mid career executives and managers into confident, capable and motivated leaders.
This is a unique leadership programme for women in cyber security, delivered by Empowering You and in association with the Scottish Digital Academy, Scottish Government and ScotlandIS.
The aim is to build a collaborative and powerful community of emerging women leaders in cyber security roles across all industry sectors. Delivered over 4 months from March-June 2022.
A key element of this programme will be a team project designed to make a positive difference to the pace and success of cyber security and resilience in Scotland, for both the economy and society.
Key Learning Intentions
During the programme, participants will work individually and collaboratively to:
- Accelerate leadership potential and embrace a ‘leader as learner’ mindset
- Explore strategies to understand and engage more effectively with team members and stakeholders
- Understand and develop your own personal and authentic leadership skills
- Identify and respond to challenges within the team and organisation
- Leverage the combined expertise of peers to progress individual and collective growth
- Collaborate to deliver a team project for the women in digital and cyber security community
Programme Modules
Segmented into four workshop modules and a team community challenge, Empowering Women to Lead Cyber Security engages participants in a detailed exploration around the fundamentals of leadership and management, focusing on individual drivers and derailers.
Each module includes an inspirational guest speaker from different industries sharing and discussing their own leadership journey.
- The power of connection, trust and relationships
- Self-awareness – drivers, strengths and what holds you back
- Emotional intelligence and working with others
- Authentic leadership and optimising your impact
- Plus: teamwork and community action (through a challenge project)
Criteria
Empowering Women to Lead Cyber Security immerses participants in a multi-layered development journey designed to ensure maximum individual impact.
This programme is delivered in a a face-to-face and experiential format, with group activities and action learning sets. Two professional leadership facilitators are used throughout the workshops to make sure they maintain high levels of personal engagement and diverse perspectives.
- Learning readiness – optional group call with Programme Leader
- Self-assessment
- 2x 2-day workshops with an approximate 6 weeks gap for coaching, smaller group work and putting learning into action
- Guest industry speakers sharing personal leadership stories
- Self-directed learning modules between workshops
- Coaching workbook and questionnaire
- Three individual coaching sessions at different stages of the programme
- Team collaboration challenge for the Scotland cyber community
- A presentation to a wider community (virtual or face-to-face)
- On completion all participants will receive a certificate
