Deadline: 4-Mar-22
Applications are now open for the Pride of Place in the Community Program, a National All-Island competition which is directed towards recognising improvements by local communities to create civic pride in their area.
Communities are asked to demonstrate directly to the judges their pride in their place by oral presentation, exhibitions of community activities and culture and a tour of the area highlighting the aspects of which they are particularly proud. It is also important that the community demonstrates real partnership with their local council and shows that all sectors of the community are included.
The competition focus is on people coming together to shape, change and enjoy all that is good about their area. It is a unique opportunity for community groups to be officially recognised for the valuable work undertaken in their local areas.
With the Pride of Place competition, community groups have the opportunity to showcase specific initiatives which will have long lasting and positive impacts on their local area. Interested Community Groups are invited to apply for the 2022 competition. Westmeath County Council will select and support nominees to represent Westmeath in the All-Island competition.
Criteria
Successful applicants will receive a special county award at the Awards event. These successful applicants must be willing to be nominated to the All-Island National Pride of Place competition and will be required to showcase their project to National judges. Support will be given by the Pride of Place Liaison Officer in preparation for judging day.
