The programme is entirely virtual meaning you can learn from anywhere. You will just need a laptop and Wi-Fi to access the weekly workshops and dedicated support available through the programme.
The Rise Start-up Academy is delivered to you by Rise, created by Barclays and Rainmaking. Committed to being the catalyst for change in financial services they have teamed up to support your entrepreneurial growth. To ensure you can access their support flexibly, the Rise Start-up Academy content will be delivered online through ASPIRE, Rainmaking’s’ digital learning and development platform.

You’re In An Emerging FinTech Space:
- Climate: As environmental concerns continue to grow, how can businesses and consumers make spending, saving and investment choices that prioritise the planet?
- Wealth Equality: From an uneven distribution of wealth across generations to an ageing population, how can wealth be created and redistributed in innovative ways?
- Future of Money: The concept of money is being redefined and will fundamentally change the lives of everyone. With the demise of cash to the increase in cryptocurrencies, how can this bring about efficiency, flexibility and increased access?
- Gen Z: As the digital first, financially savvy Gen Z emerges, what products and services will best support the many financial life-moments they will encounter?
- Wildcard: Building something that doesn't fit into these other areas but you are passionate that you are rethinking the traditional approach to finance? Apply and tell them more!
- Your Start-Up Is Young: They welcome individuals and teams who have recently launched their start-up or are at idea stage
- You’re Based In Europe Or The US: They’re accepting applications from Europe (including the UK) and the US
- You’re Committed: They need you to be ready to take your idea or start-up to the next level, so you must be able to commit to completing the 20-week programme. That’s about 3 -4 hours per week.
