The Government of South Australia is seeking appications for the Port Pirie Community Greening Grant Program 2022 to support of initiatives that align with the Targeted Lead Abatement Program (TLAP) priorities of:
- reducing the exposure of children and the wider community to dust and soil that may contain lead
- improving education and awareness on the importance of greening and other dust management initiatives.
Focus Areas
Grant funding can be used to deliver initiatives that control dust movement from community facilities by covering or sealing exposed areas, including:
- greening or sealing outdoor areas of community facilities
- greening or sealing publicly accessible spaces managed or owned by the organisations through, for example, plantings
- purchasing equipment, supplies (such as mulches) or infrastructure to assist in the delivery of the dust management project
- local community education, engagement or awareness activities and initiatives that reduce dust and promote greening local education and awareness
Funding Information
A total of $125,000 is available in this round, and eligible organisations can apply for single grants of up to $10,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Organisations applying for grants must:
- have not-for-profit objectives
- be community-based
- be currently operating within (preferably with an office) South Australia for at least 12- months, delivering services or support to the Port Pirie community.
- AND be either:
- a legal entity — that is, the entity with legal responsibility for a grant, which must be capable by law of entering into an agreement, or
- a sponsored entity (if applying through a legal entity). That is, an organisation that requires a legal entity to sponsor a grant application. A sponsored entity must be authorised by a legal entity to apply and be sponsored for funding through that legal entity. A sponsored entity is not capable of entering into an agreement in its own right.
- A legal entity
- must be incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act 1985, or the Aboriginal Councils and Associations Act 1976, or have evidence of a comparable legal status, such as Australian Public Company limited by guarantee. OR
- be a council under the Local Government Act 1999, to act as a sponsor AND
- be currently registered with a valid and eligible Australian Business Number (ABN)
- have an Australian bank account in the name of the legal entity
- agree to the terms and conditions of the grant agreement.
- AND, if sponsoring an organisation
- ensure the sponsored entity has not-for-profit objectives, and
- agree to accept legal and financial responsibility for the grant.
