Roscommon County Council, together with Creative Ireland and the Decade of Centenaries Programme, is pleased to announce increased funding for the Community Strand in 2022 under the Creative Roscommon & Decade of Centenaries Open Call.

Objectives
- The key objective of the Creative Roscommon Grants 2022 is to provide support to local communities and creatives to deliver collaborative, innovative, ambitious projects and to enable creativity in every community in Roscommon.
- The key objective of the Decade of Centenaries Roscommon Grants 2022 is to provide support to local communities to facilitate commemorative actions and events in the county relevant to 1922. Applications are required to respond with sensitivity to the local historical context, acknowledging that there was no uniform experience within counties or across the island of Ireland.
Funding Information
- Creative Roscommon Grants 2022: The level of grant assistance for any one event/project will range from €2,000 to €5,000. Roscommon County Council is also looking for one or two creative projects of larger scale and ambition up to a maximum of €10,000.
- Decade of Centenaries Roscommon Grants 2022: The level of grant assistance for any one event/project will average €1,000. In very exceptional circumstances, Roscommon County Council reserves the right to award a sum in excess of this to a project.
Eligibility Criteria
- This fund is open to not-for-profit organisations, local community groups, arts, heritage and cultural groups, venues and all those involved in the culture and creative sectors. Applications by individuals must be in partnership with a community, cultural or heritage group.
- Funding may only be used to support events/projects that focus on cultural activity involving the arts, creative industries, heritage and the Irish language (Creative Roscommon) or commemorative events/projects (Decade of Centenaries).
- Funding may not be used to support pre-existing obligations or plans, or for any other purpose unrelated to the Creative Ireland or Decade of Centenaries Programme.
Selection Criteria
Grant applications received will be evaluated in respect of the following criteria:
- The extent to which the proposed event/project is aligned to the Programmes and the Strategic Priorities of the Roscommon County Council Culture and Creativity Strategy 2018-2022.
- The extent to which the proposed event/project maximises community and citizen engagement;
- The extent to which the proposed event/project is new, ambitious, innovative and fosters creativity (Creative Roscommon Grants only);
- The potential scope of the event/project and anticipated target audience;
- The cost of the proposed event/project and any additional supports and funding that may be required or have been confirmed;
- The event/project must be based in County Roscommon;
- Completion of the project within the current year. The following activities are not eligible for Decade of Centenaries funding:
- Provision or maintenance of memorials, plaques, busts, or statues;
- Hiring or purchase of replica weapons or uniforms;
- Production of commemorative medals or pins;
- All initiatives and activities must adhere to all of the public health advice and guidance, laid down by the HSE and the Government, with regard to the COVID-19 pandemic.
