Deadline: 16-May-22
The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is inviting applications for the Armenian Studies Scholarship from research students admitted to or already pursuing a Master’s or Ph.D. degree or a Post Doc in internationally recognized universities.
The Foundation will accept in the first instance in this scholarship category research proposals from social science perspectives that focus on the contemporary (i.e. post-Soviet) period.
Note that “Armenian Studies” is understood in a broad sense and is not confined to “Area Studies”.
Disciplines
- Keeping with its mission to support research in the field of Armenian Studies, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation invites applications from graduate students pursuing research in this field.
- Given the recent political and military developments in Nagorno-Karabakh/Artsakh and Armenia, the lack of academic research/analysis on related contemporary subjects, and the Foundation’s stated policy of privileging research on current issues, the scholarship programme for Armenian Studies in 2022 will focus on contemporary (post-Soviet) topics from social science perspectives, with particular attention to the following disciplines:
- political science/international relations,
- sociology,
- anthropology,
- current history,
- social psychology,
- international law,
- human rights,
- peace and conflict studies,
- international development and humanitarian studies,
- diaspora, refugee and migration studies,
- cultural studies.
Benefits
- Master degree € 7,000 € 10,000
- PhD degree € 17,000 € 25,000
