The UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) is currently inviting civil society organizations, educational or academic institutions to submit proposals to implement project on Creating Safe and Inclusive City to Prevent Violence against Women and Girls in Jakarta City, Indonesia. This project is part of UN Women’s Indonesia program on Violence against Women – Safe City Initiative.
Responding to above situation, since 2015 UN Women Indonesia initiated “Piloting Safe and Inclusive Cities for Women and Girls in Jakarta” (Safe Jakarta) project. The project is developed with the understanding that in Indonesia, like in many other countries, women’s access to and ability to avail of the rights and benefits of the city are often encumbered by their gender. The Safe Jakarta Project is attempting to respond to this concern, drawing lessons and good practices shared by UN Women Safe Cities Global Programme.
Focus
The focus of the assignment is developing and piloting effective strategy in prevention of violence against women and girls particularly in public space in selected areas of Jakarta city. Some of the activities will be informed by the results of ongoing Safety Audit.
Objectives
- To develop and pilot strategies on community led prevention of violence against women and girls measures informed by local social norms and informed by Safety Audit results.
- To strengthen capacity of key stakeholders in peventing and responding to violence against women and girls and creating safer public space for women and girls in selected pilot areas of Jakarta.

Eligibility Criteria
Proposals can be submitted by an organization or jointly by two or more organizations of any of the following categories:
- Educational and academic organizations
- Non-governmental organizations
The applying organizations must be legally registered.
