The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is pleased to invite proposal for “Developing protocol of sustainable harvesting of Minor Forest produce and training in value added products from wild produce and the development of a cluster development plan on MFP with focus on bamboo in IHRML project landscape”.
Objectives
- The primary objective of this assignment is developing protocol of sustainable harvesting of Minor Forest produce and developing value added products from wild produce and the development of a cluster development plan on MFP with focus on bamboo in the IHRML project landscape.
- This program objectives to protect biodiversity of the High Range Mountain Landscape of the southern Western Ghats in peninsular India from existing and emergent threats through building an effective collaborative governance framework for multiple use management and also building adequate capacity with the people, and functionaries working in the landscape for observations, appreciation planning for resilience towards climatic change, and disaster risk reduction and management.
Activities to be carried out
- Developing protocol of sustainable harvesting of Minor Forest produce (MFP)
- Product development of at least 5 value-added products from wild produce and other MFPs
- Training of tribal community members on sustainable harvesting and value-added products
- Assessment of the current market linkages of the selected value-added products and developing a road map for better market linkages
- Cluster development plan on MFP with focus on bamboo
Outcomes
The key outcomes expected out of the project are:
- Strengthened capacities for community based sustainable use and management of natural resources.
- Multiple use management is applied to secure the ecological integrity of the high range landscape.
- Appropriate and effective governance framework for multiple-use high range landscape management evolved

Duration: Expected duration of work 3 months.
Criteria
- Agency must have team members who has a minimum 5 years of experience in value added products from wild produce and experience in working bamboo among the tribal communities.
- Agency must have at least 2 years work experience in working with tribal community.
- The organisation should have experience in Western Ghats.
