The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) invites you to submit a Proposal to develop management/restoration plans for 10 catchments that are adjacent to restored wetland sites.
The Project aims to address and consider climate change issues when managing critical wetland areas. Project activities were developed to specifically respond to and take into account specific climate-related impacts and vulnerabilities of wetland ecosystems.
The government of Uganda initiated a process of restoring wetlands and their associated catchments with a major focus on promoting climate resilient agriculture interventions in areas surrounding wetlands in Eastern and South-Western Uganda.
Objectives
The main objective of the consultancy is to undertake GIS mapping and ecological assessment of status of the catchments and propose appropriate rehabilitation measures for specific catchments. The specific objectives of the assignment are:
- Assess the current community local policies and systems for environment and natural resource management.
- Assess the level of catchment degradation, activities causing degradation, their impacts of on water, biodiversity and other ecosystem services from and within the catchment.
- Map out critical areas for restoration in the catchment areas.
- Prepare and design a catchment restoration action plans that will guide the restoration degraded habitats.
- Determine the restoration acreage as well soil conservation technologies to be adopted, tree species to be planted and the costs associated with the proposed interventions.
- Identify vulnerable communities within the catchment areas that will benefit from proposed interventions and provide a list of proposed beneficiaries
- Identify capacity gaps of affected communities in the wetland catchment areas and recommend the necessary actions.
Eligibility Criteria
- A vendor should not be suspended, debarred, or otherwise identified as ineligible by any UN Organization or the World Bank Group or any other international Organization. Vendors are therefore required to disclose to UNDP whether they are subject to any sanction or temporary suspension imposed by these organizations.
- It is the Bidder’s responsibility to ensure that its employees, joint venture members, sub-contractors, service providers, suppliers and/or their employees meet the eligibility requirements as established by UNDP.
