The Community Foundation of Ireland has launched a public fundraising campaign to aid the growing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.
The ‘Ireland for Ukraine’ campaign aims to raise funds for people affected by the conflict, which includes those who have been displaced.
Objectives
The objectives of this fund are:
- Primary Response: The objective of this strand is to support organizations that are responding to the immediate and essential needs of refugees from Ukraine.
- Community Response: The objective of this strand is to support organizations that are responding to the wellbeing and integration needs of refugees from Ukraine on a community level.
- Specialized Response: The objective of this strand is to support organizations who regularly work with vulnerable groups to provide a specialized response to vulnerable groups of refugees from Ukraine.
- Collaborative Response: The objective of this strand is to support collaboration amongst organizations to better develop their response to the needs of refugees from Ukraine.
The Strands
Irish organizations working with refugees from Ukraine at a local, regional and national level can apply for a grant under the following strands:
- Primary Response
- Grants of €15,000 are available to eligible organizations that are aiming to adapt and expand their work to support refugees from Ukraine arriving in Ireland. Applications can be for new projects, to upscale and develop ongoing programmes or the enhancement of spaces.
- Community Response
- Grants of €5,000 or €10,000 are available to eligible organizations that are aiming to adapt and expand their work to support refugees from Ukraine arriving in Ireland. Applications can be for new projects, to upscale and develop ongoing programs or the enhancement of spaces.
- Specialized Response
- Grants of €30,000 are available to eligible organizations that are aiming to adapt and expand their work to support refugees from Ukraine arriving in Ireland. Applications can be for new projects, to upscale and develop ongoing programs or the enhancement of spaces.
- Collaborative Response
- Grants of €50,000 or €100,000 are available to eligible organizations that are aiming to adapt and expand their network to support refugees from Ukraine arriving in Ireland.
- Lead applicants must have an annual income for €100,000 or more (for €50,000 grants) and an annual income of €200,000 or more (for €100,000 grants ).
What types of proposals are eligible for funding?
Proposals that fall under the following strands are eligible:
- Primary Response strand: Proposals that respond to the essential needs of refugees (eg. Medical support, legal support, accommodation support, etc.)
- Community Response strand: Proposals that support refugees’ wellbeing and integration at a community level. These include, but are not limited to – social community groups, community development programs, community mental health programs, education supports etc.
- Specialized Response strand : Proposals that will work with particularly vulnerable cohorts of refugees who require specialized services. These programs include, but are not limited to – Trauma response, physical and intellectual disability support, LGBT+ support groups, Anti-Trafficking campaigns and programs, etc.
- Collaborative Response strand: Proposals for organizations coming together to provide greater impact. These include the development of new networks or the upscaling of existing networks of organizations.
Eligibility Criteria
- For the Primary Response and Community Response strands voluntary non-profit groups and registered charities may apply.
- For the Specialized Response and Collective Response strands registered charities only may apply.
- The Primary Response strand: open to registered charities and local community/ voluntary groups with an annual income of €30,000 or more.
- The Community Response strand: open to registered charities and local community/ voluntary groups with an annual income of €10,000 or more (for €5,000 grants) and an annual income of €20,000 or more (for €10,000 grants).
- The Specialized Response strand: open to registered charities with an annual income of €60,000 or more.
- The Collaborative Response strand: open for networks of charitable organizations that work on a national or regional level. The lead applicant must be a registered regional or national charity but can collaborate with community and voluntary groups who may not be eligible. Organizations must be able to demonstrate their current work in supporting refugees from Ukraine.
Note: Applications can be for new projects, to upscale and develop ongoing program or the enhancement of spaces.
