The Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services and Navigation of Spain has launched the European project GREENinMED.
This project is co-financed by the European ENI CBC MED program and aims to help Mediterranean SMEs operating in the tourism industry to be more competitive by applying innovative solutions that increase efficiency in water and energy management. The objective is to improve eco-innovation ecosystems in water and energy, through financial support in the form of subsidies to generate new products/services by start-ups and innovative Mediterranean companies.
The GREENinMED project is promoted by a consortium of 5 entities from Spain, France and Israel: Capenergies (France); ISWA, Arava Institute and Kinnneret College (Israel) and Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry Services and Navigation of Spain (Chamber of Spain), and the support mechanisms offered by GREENinMED are the following:
- The creation of a cross-border network to identify and analyze the most relevant existing products/services on eco-innovation for the tourism industry in response to their real needs. GREENinMED has already offered, through innovation bonds, consulting services to support the adoption of new products/services by tourism SMEs in order to be more efficient and competitive.
- Improve eco-innovation ecosystems in water and energy, through financial support in the form of subsidies to generate new products/services by start-ups and innovative mid-terrain companies. Likewise, the GREENinMED project will promote collaboration with research and innovation entities, and the creation of spin-offs through the collaboration of SMEs with the partners of the consortium.
Note: In this sense, this public call for financial aid is published for innovative SMEs, start-ups or spin-offs located in the Mediterranean regions, for the development of new innovative products or services, or adapted to the needs of the tourism industry. , that favor efficiency in the management of water and energy by this sector (hotels, campsites, yacht clubs, water parks, other establishments linked to tourism, etc.)
Objectives
- This call aims to promote the generation of four (4) new innovative products or services for the tourism industry and sector, by awarding four (4) grants to innovative SMEs, start-ups or spin-offs to develop or adapt the new products and/or services to the needs of greater efficiency in consumption and/or management of water and energy by companies in the tourism sector.
- In this sense, one (1) aid will be granted per proposal for the generation of at least one (1) new product or service, or the adaptation of a product or service with a significant improvement that responds to the specific needs of a type of companies in the tourism field to achieve greater efficiency in consumption and/or management of water and energy.
- The beneficiary SMEs must have their registered office and/or production center in one of the Autonomous Communities of the Spanish Mediterranean basin (Catalonia, the Valencian Community, the Balearic Islands, the Region of Murcia, Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla).
Funding Information
- The maximum budget available for this call for aid is 100,000 EUROS.
- Application for aid, within the framework of this call, has a minimum eligible budget of 25,000 euros, with 90% co-financing from the European Union, that is, the maximum amount of aid per application will be 22,500 euros.
- Within the framework of the project, applicants will be able to tackle larger projects, although the intensity of the aid will not exceed 90% of the investment made up to a maximum of 25,000 euros (that is, 22,500 euros of aid).
Eligibility Criteria
- The coordination of the calls in the 3 countries of the project, Spain, France and Israel will be carried out through the so-called “Single Window Eco-innovation Support Center. The members of the GREEinMED consortium will make the final decision on the proposals selected in the call.
- The essential conditions to be beneficiaries of the call for aid are:
- Being an SME – including start-ups or spin-offs
- Be registered in the Census of Economic Activities. Those companies that operate in the fishing, agriculture, coal and primary production of agricultural products are exempted.
- Be linked to innovative activities or technological research.
- Not be subject to any of the prohibitions.
- Have its registered office and/or production center in one of the Autonomous Communities of the Spanish Mediterranean basin (Andalusia, Catalonia, the Valencian Community, the Balearic Islands, the Region of Murcia, Ceuta and Melilla).
- Be up to date with tax and Social Security obligations.
- Comply with the de minimis rule (Commission Regulation No. 1407/2013, of December 18, 2013, on the application of articles 107 and 108 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union to de minimis aid (not having received Aid from any Public Administration that together exceeds €200,000 in the last three years, €100,000 in the case of companies operating in the road transport sector).
