The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) is pleased to announce the I. A. Rehman Research Grant for 2022, in honour of the veteran human rights defender and former secretary-general of the Commission.
The organisation will award the grant to an academic, journalist or human rights defender or professional for original research carried out in the broad area of economic and labour rights, including the right to decent work (including fair wages and safe working conditions), the right to form and join trade unions, and the right to social security. They are especially interested in proposals that target vulnerable or disadvantaged categories of workers.
Funding Information
- The applicants can get up to PKR 500,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates are shortlisted and selected by an independent committee of academics and human rights defenders.
- The grant is open to Pakistani citizens or foreign nationality holders of Pakistani heritage.
- To apply
- Submit a 400-to-500-word research statement, explaining how your proposed topic is aligned with HRCP’s work and how it will contribute to the literature on human rights or to the human rights movement. Please ensure that your proposed scope of work is achievable within a maximum of three months.
- Submit a current CV.
- All awardees must submit a final report (between 5,000 and 7,000 words) to HRCP for review and approval by 1 December 2022. HRCP will publish the document for dissemination among policymakers, human rights defenders, academics and the media.
