The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) invites U.S. institutions in partnership with research centers in low-income countries to submit applications as Research Units (RUs) to participate in the Global Network for Women’s and Children’s Health Research.
The purpose of the Global Network for Women’s and Children’s Health Research is to improve health outcomes for women and children in low- and lower-middle-income countries (as defined by the World Bank) by researching sustainable, cost-effective health interventions, and strengthening research infrastructure and public health intervention capabilities in developing countries. The Network will increase opportunities for scientific linkages, interaction, knowledge development and transfer, and collaborative partnerships among U.S. and foreign investigators and institutions.
Goals
- Enhancing rigor and reproducibility
- Promoting greater availability of multisite clinical trial infrastructure to support trials from a wider range of investigators
- Facilitating data sharing and access to biospecimens
- Facilitating greater involvement of diverse populations in multisite clinical trials.
