Applicants are invited to submit applications for the Regional Activation Program, an initiative that supports projects by community groups, artists and organisations who help protect and enhance the lives of regionally located LGBTQIA+ individuals through the expression of arts, events and cultural activities that celebrate Victoria’s diverse LGBTQIA+ Pride in a state-wide way.
Objectives

Projects funded through the program must align with one or more of the following program objectives:
- The commissioning of projects in any form that highlight LGBTQIA+ Challenges and Opportunities both past and future.
- Respond to the theme of their diverse communities’ ongoing road to pride in regional areas, and showcasing regional LGBTQIA+ artists.
- To capture, record or commission LGBTQIA+ voices and stories (written, audio or visual) recognising the value and importance of creating permanent and tenable records of LGBTQIA+ history.
- To enable events, exhibitions or historical collections that celebrate or commemorate past or present LGBTQIA+ moments and/or community sacrifices, challenges and achievements. This may also include projections or acknowledgement of pathways yet to be travelled.
- To enable LGBTQIA+ community organisations and artists within regional Victoria to participate in and feel connected to Midsumma celebrations and in particular can show how they link in with state-wide celebrations of Victoria's Pride Event on 12 February that includes a street party in Melbourne.
- Focused on the inclusion of diverse LGBTQIA+ individuals and communities across culture and generations.
Funding Information
- Small, Moderate and Major Projects will be considered up to the amount of $15,000 (ex. GST) a limited number of major projects above $15K.
Types of Activities
- Delivery an event or community engagement activity showcasing your community and its unique pride history, stories and/or experiences.
- Create an artwork, digital masterpiece or installation highlighting yours or your community’s unique history and relationship with Pride.
- The capture, recording or publication of a story, interview, performance or podcast. Recognising the value and importance of creating permanent and tenable records of LGBTQIA+ history.
Eligibility Criteria
- Not-for-profit incorporated groups and individuals.
- It is important that your organisation meets the following eligibility criteria.
- If you do not meet any of the criteria, and you are an LGBTQIA+ artist or art maker, you may consider an auspice arrangement with an eligible organisation.

You must be either:
- A LGBTQIA+ community, not-for-profit or peak community body based in Regional, Rural or Remote Victoria (or Metro Melbourne based and operating in Regional, Rural or Remote Victoria), is an incorporated legal entity under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cwlth) or the Associations Incorporation Reform Act 2001 (Vic) or a similar type of organisation
- A social enterprise with a clearly stated purpose or mission related specifically to supporting LGBTQIA+ communities

And you must:
- Have a current Australian Business Number (ABN)
- Have at least $10 million Public Liability Insurance to cover all aspects of the Program, or an auspice arrangement with this insurance cover
- Not have any overdue deliverables from other funds provided by Midsumma
- Successful projects must be delivered in Regional, Remote or Rural Victoria on or in the lead up to 12 February 2023.
