The Invest Ottawa is seeking applications for its Starter Company Plus, a training and mentoring program for eligible entrepreneurs who want to start, expand, or buy a small Ontario-based business.
The Starter Company Plus program provides entrepreneurs with free access to training and mentorship to help launch or grow their early-stage, non-tech, Ottawa-based business.
Some Starter Company Plus participants may be eligible for a limited number of grants, depending on their successful completion of the primary elements of the program. Grants (up to $5000) will be awarded based on the entrepreneur’s ability to prove to the Grant Review Committee that a grant will have a sustainable impact on the success of his/her/their business. The Committee is comprised of business community members who will have the final decision on whether applicants are awarded grants.

- Completion of the Starter Company Plus Application Form & Questionnaire does NOT guarantee your participation in the program.
- Acceptance into the Starter Company Plus program does NOT guarantee that you will receive a grant.

Benefits

- A chance to pitch for up to $5,000
- After working to develop the key components of their business, participants will have the opportunity to put their training to the test and pitch their business to a panel of committee members for a chance to be awarded a grant of up to $5,000.
Eligibility Criteria
You should apply to the program if:
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You are operating your business from Ottawa, Ontario
- You are an Ontario resident and Canadian citizen (or permanent resident)
- You are not attending school full-time or returning to school
- Your company is an early-stage product or service-based business
- You are not enrolled in a provincial or government-funded employment, self-employment program or entrepreneurship training program (with/without financial assistance).
