There are 3 components within this program:
- FirstVoices projects involve using FirstVoices.com to document and share your language. These projects make languages more accessible and preserve knowledge for future generations.
- Digitization projects involve converting materials such as audio cassettes, reel-to-reel tapes, VHS tapes and text documents to a digital format.
- Development projects use FirstVoices data to develop digital tools, like language learning apps and games. Note that FPCC does not provide training for developing apps and games but will fund training through this program.

- Project Term: July 3, 2023 – June 30, 2024
Eligibility Criteria
- B.C. First Nations Communities/Governments/Bands/Tribal Councils
- Indigenous Cultural, Language and Education Centres
- Urban Indigenous Organizations
- Previous applicants may apply if all reporting on any previous funding from FPCC or FPCF (including from the Arts or Heritage departments) is up to date.
Ineligibility Criteria
- Individual applicants
- Public institutions (e.g., schools, universities)
- Committees, groups, task forces without an established governing body
- Previous projects funded by FPCC/FPCF where applicants have not completed all the required reporting (including from Arts or Heritage programs)
