The NICER Mali in collaboration with U.S. Embassy in Mali is seeking to recruit qualified Malian students for Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program for the academic year 2023-2024.
This program provides scholarships to Malian students of 9th 10th and 11th grades to spend up to one academic year as an exchange student in the United States. Students live with host families, attend high schools, engage in activities to learn about American society and values, acquire leadership skills, and educate Americans about their countries and cultures.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible for this program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be of Malian nationality
- Be born between August 15, 2006 – August 15, 2008 – NB: February 01, 2005 – August 15, 2008 for people with disabilities handicap
- Be in 9th grade 10th or 11th year during the 2022-2023 school year;
- Have an annual average of 13 during the last two school years and without a mark lower than 10 by matter;
- Not be a US citizen or have stayed in the United States before (exceptions made for visiting or holidays);
- Have knowledge of the culture and social values of Mali and be able to represent them in their host community;
- Have the will and the commitment to participate in community activities and the daily life of your family American hospitality.
- Obtain the required score in a written and oral test in English, the test will be offered to candidates who will be selected after the submission of files;
- The documents to be provided are:
- Copies of report cards for the last two school years;
- An extract of the birth certificate.
